This is what the artist felt Virginia Dare would look like if she lived and walked around naked with a crane, draped only in a fishing net. Of course she would still do her hair as the English women of the day.
I read that this statue had quite a history. It lay under water off the coast of Spain for two years, was salvaged from a fire in Massachusetts, and upon her arrival in North Carolina in the 1920s was considered so racy that for decades she was tossed back and forth like a hot potato all across the state.
